Tabu wins title
ITANAGAR, Oct 31: Tabu Dupit won the Upper Subansiri District Open Chess Championship which concluded at Singik Hall Daporijo on October 28.
Tabu collected 6.5 points from 7 round while Tachung Dupit earned 6 points to finish behind Tabu. The 3rd, 4th and 5th positions were won by Taw Baki, Tabu Duchok and Tare Riamuk respectively. Jinita Sorum was the lone woman participants.

Association (AEKCCSWA) have donated 15 units of blood in a voluntary blood donation
camp organized by Arunachal State Hospital (ASH), Naharlagun under the aegis of APSACS
as part of the month-
Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Moji Jini highly appreciated the youths of AEKCCSWA for voluntarily coming forward to donate blood. Dr. Jini informed that AEKCCSWA had also expressed its willingness to participate in the blood donation program to be organized at RK Mission Hospital on November 2. Earlier, Dr. K Ete, Senior Biochemist of ASH, explained the importance of voluntary blood donation through PowerPoint presentation in a seminar cum donor motivation camp organized prior to the blood donation camp. He urged the youths to take active part in spreading the message of importance of voluntary blood donation among masses.

Relief distributed
ITANAGAR, Oct 31: Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Flowering famine relief distribution programme was flagged off by Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso in a simple function held at the NBCC Mission compound today. A total of 3250 affected families of Tali, Pipsorang, Gangte, Chambang circle of Kurung Kumey district and Kamporijo circle of Lower Subansiri district were provided rice and salt as relief assistance. The food materials were sponsored by Canadian Food Grain Bank and World Relief, Canada respectively and distributed by NEICORD in partnership with Nyishi Baptist Church Council.
Medical and Awareness camp on Hepatitis B
ITANAGAR, Oct 31: The Catholic Mission Siyum conducted a Free Medical and Awareness camp on Hepatitis B at Govt. Primary School in the remote Ayingmurri village in the Upper Subansiri district on October 28.
The camp started with a PowerPoint presentation on Hepatitis B disease.
Dr. Susmitha, the coordinator of the camp, explained the common causes of transmission, symptoms, stages of infection, vulnerability and vaccination procedures of the silent killer disease. She also cleared the prevalent myths and fears about the spread of the disease among the local populace and exhorted them to take extreme care and not to go for self medication and self injections.
Later, the team led by Dr. Susmitha conducted the free medical camp and held health checks and treated all patients including many infants and children for various ailments. 250 patients of the locality and various remote villagers benefited from the awareness programme and the free medical camp.
The camp was assisted by Fr. Siju Jose, Sr. Alin Therese, Catholic Mission Siyum, Mrs. Yajam Biaching and Yapa Singkom, Voluntary Health Workers, Divine Mercy Health centre, Siyum.

PTC win T20 Cricket tourney
ITANAGAR, Oct 31: Police Training Centre (PTC) defeated Nirjuli Young Star Club in the final to win the T20 Cricket Tournament organized by Yumbin Welfare Society under the sponsorship of Horizon Agricare Pvt Ltd at BN ground Chimpu near here today.
The winning team was awarded cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 along with trophy and the runners up team was given cash prize of Rs 40,000.

We are waiting for outcome of enquiry report
Dear Editor,
The APP/IRBn constable recruitment drive was held from July 17 to 26 and the selected candidates had faced the written tests on September 2, 2012. The public of Upper Subansiri district had witnessed the recruitment process and were satisfied as the Interview Board acted in a fair and free manner without any objection.
Unfortunately, recruitment was halted following complaint lodged by someone with vested interests and Govt constituted a one man enquiry committee headed by IAS officer. However, even after the submission of enquiry report, the results of written test have not yet been declared whereas the results were declared in other districts and selected candidates are now undergoing training. Therefore, such delay in declaration of result has brought untold mental agony to the deserving candidates.
General public, parents and candidates are waiting for the outcome of the enquiry report. Some of the candidates who appeared in the constable interview are in a dilemma. They can not wait for uncertain period of time for the job while discontinuing their study.
Therefore, as senior citizens, we earnestly request the state Govt, especially home department to look into the matter seriously and reveal the outcome of the enquiry report at the earliest.

Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of Tax & Excise department towards delay in declaration of written test examination results for the post of constables. How much time the Govt. department needs to complete the recruitment process and declare the written test result for the post of constables when the written examination was conducted in a fair manner. If the department buys more time, it will generate more doubt about the credibility of dept.
Many a times I have approached the department and enquired about the result only to get funny reply. We are clueless who are responsible for the undue delay in declaration of the results. Therefore, the Chief Minister is requested to intervene for early declaration of the results.

ITANAGAR, Oct 31: Along with the rest of the country, Arunachal Pradesh today observed the 28th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).
APCC president Mukut Mithi, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, ministers, MLAs, MP, Parliamentary Secretaries, PCC office bearers, Congress leaders of frontal organizations and Congress workers paid floral tribute to the portrait of Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here today. Artistes from Kristi Kendra Music Academy, Naharlagun performed Bhajan to befit the occasion.
A pledge was administered by Mithi to the gathering to mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.

ITANAGAR, Oct 31: Vivekanada Kendra Vidyalayas (VKVs) made a clean sweep of all the three positions in the District Level Science Congress conducted at Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Naharlagun today.

Inaugurating the programme on 30th October Y. W. Ringu, Director Department of Disaster Management said her department has given emphasis on sensitization and capacity building with an aim for enabling all concerned to be better equipped in managing disasters.
While explaining the cause of disaster, she said there is an urgent need for better understanding at individual as well as community level about possible repercussion in meddling with nature by undesirable activities such as construction on river beds, indiscriminate cutting of forests in the name of development etc. She informed that the concept of Disaster Management has undergone a paradigm shift and is much more inclusive and holistic than merely relief and rehabilitation. Earlier, Bogong Anchal ZPM Okom Yosung inaugurated the tournament in presence of several local dignitaries, veteran footballers and soccer lovers. Yosung appreciated the District Football Association (DFA) for conducting the tournament saying that such sporting activities foster unity and brotherhood among the youths. He advised the budding players to show their hidden talents through such sport activities.

Under this more than 80000 people will be tested from all the 16 districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
